Celebrating Harmony in Diversity

The World Culture Festival, to be held on July 2 – 3, 2011, is a ground-breaking event that will celebrate the coming together of cultures from more than 150 countries in peace and harmony. The aim is to foster harmony in diversity and inter-cultural dialogue by showcasing dance, music and food from around the world. This Festival will take place in the Olympia-Stadium Berlin and is expected to bring together a diverse group of more than 70,000 participants from over 100 countries. The Festival will be hosted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Art of Living Foundation, an UN-accredited NGO which is represented in 151 countries in the world, of caring and sharing with cultures from all over the globe.

The combination of inter-cultural dialogue, dance and music, concerts, conferences, and a vast vegetarian food festival will felicitate the norms and values of all cultures and traditions of the world. The Festival will also share the vast cultural heritage of India, the source of yoga, not only by showcasing the unique benefits of yoga, but also by sharing the beauty and depth the music, dance and cuisine of India as up to 5,000 people, including artists and high-level guests from public and private sector, are expected to travel from India to Berlin for the Festival.

In addition to cultural highlights and speeches during the main event in the Olympic Stadium on Saturday, July 2, 2010, 6 – 9.30 pm, the Festival will give the visitors the opportunity to participate in various theme parks, conferences and workshops.

The theme park will host the following topics:

  • Inter-cultural Dialogue: Thoughts and views of prominent thinkers and opinion- makers on creating harmony in the diversity of the cultures
  • Intercultural Dance and Music Park: Dance and music from leading international artists
  • Intercultural Vegetarian Food Festival: Foods and tastes from around the world
  • Yoga Park - Yoga and meditation techniques from foremost practitioners

Inter-cultural Dialogue: A dialogue about our values, beliefs, attitudes and goals can lead to greater understanding and wisdom about diversity in our world. This event aims to create a strong platform for inter-cultural dialogue by the presence of high-level governmental representatives, business leaders, academia, leaders of NGOs, religious and spiritual leaders, peacemakers and renowned personalities from across the globe. They will exchange their views and spread the message of peace, unity and harmony in diversity for the whole world.

Intercultural Music and Dance Village: The history of a people is found in its songs and dances. The Festival will bring together leading dance and music troops from around the globe, with dazzling performances from their individual countries as well as collaboratively with other countries to celebrate unity in diversity. This program will host a grand ensemble of 3000 guitarists and 30 piano players.

Intercultural Food Village: Food is a central activity of mankind and one of the single most significant trademarks of a culture. The event will host one of the biggest international vegetarian food festivals ever. It will showcase the beauty, diversity and delights of different cuisines from around the world. Participants will have the opportunity to see how vegetarianism can positively affect our planet.

Yoga Park: Inner peace is the basis for a peaceful society. Yoga means 'union' – the coming together of our mind, body and spirit. The festival will also highlight the importance of yoga as a way to improve physical and mental well-being.
